Stephensons of Essex is an established local company which can trace its origins back to the mid 1970’s, when operations commenced with a single Bedford coach. We now operate a fleet of over 70 buses and coaches throughout south, mid Essex and west Suffolk, from our headquarters at Rochford, near Southend-on-Sea, and depots at Maldon, Witham and Haverhill. |

We have grown rapidly in recent years, but our philosophy remains the same – to provide high quality, safe, reliable and friendly, value for money bus and coach travel. In 2009 our buses and coaches covered 1.2 million miles and carried 1.5 million passengers, consuming 600,000 litres of diesel fuel. |

Still privately owned, and now one of the largest independent operators in Essex, we can provide a level of personal service which is impossible for the big groups. Being locally owned and managed, we can respond quickly and flexibly to changes in demand on our services, whilst maintaining competitive prices. |

In 2009 we invested half a million pounds in continuing to update our fleet, including three new state of the art, buggy and wheelchair friendly Easy Access buses with ‘green’ low emission engines. Over three quarters of our fleet is fitted with CCTV for safety and security. |

2010 saw a major investment in four new Easy Access buses for the Blackwater Link (Witham - Maldon) - now doubled in frequency to meet demand from the travelling public. |

We provide a wide range of local bus and schools services, as well as contract services for supermarkets, colleges and major employers. We work in partnership with Essex County Council to provide many bus services which would not otherwise run, particularly in rural areas. |

We can also offer buses and coaches for private charter, from 49 seats up to 100 seats. For the bus and coach industry, we provide a vehicle dealership. Our stock usually includes a number of double deckers, and often single deck buses, coaches and minibuses. |
