Buses for Heybridge West from 4th April |
| 24 Mar 2011 |
Last autumn, Ward Councillor Michael Edwards and Chairman of the Heybridge Parish Council, Councillor Clive Gifford, canvassed residents of the Heybridge West area and found there was support for a bus link into town. The area has not been served by public transport since it was developed over ten years ago.
Stephensons, with support from the parish council and Essex County Council's Passenger Transport Group, will now extend popular shopper bus 288 to the Heybridge West area from 4th April.
The bus will run from Tesco's along the Causeway to the Triangle roundabout, then along Holloway Road to Heybridge Approach, with a new stop midway between Doubleday Drive and Temple Way.
The bus runs from Heybridge just after 10.00, and every 30 minutes until just before noon and then again at 1322 and at 1622. From Maldon it runs from just after 10.00 and then every 30 minutess, with return trips at just before 14.00 and shortly after 16.00. Ideal for shopping, visits to the doctors, library, friends etc., and no need to worry about parking the car! Full timetables are here (PDF).
The Heybridge West bus will run on trial for a year from April and times may be "fine-tuned" in the light of experience. After that it all depends on customers using it, so your support is vital in keeping it on the road!
